Tzero Technologies, the leading developer of Ultra wideband has joined forces with HomePNA 3 technology developer CopperGate Communications, a Challenge Fund II portfolio company, to demonstrate a joint solution for the distribution of IPTV services in the home that combines the benefits of a high speed multimedia networking over existing wires with the convenience of high-bandwidth, low-power wireless connectivity. The demonstration will show high speed HDTV streamed over both coax and phone wires bridging seamlessly to a set-top box over a UWB link.
"As Telcos roll out IPTV services we see HomePNA 3 technology becoming a preferred high speed backbone option for distributing multimedia entertainment in the home," said Dan Karr, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Tzero. "We are happy to be working with CopperGate to demonstrate the advantages of using our technologies together to provide IP data streaming direct to any TV or set-top box in the house."
"Our customers have asked us for a high quality, cost effective means for delivering high-definition content to consumer equipment wirelessly. We believe that UWB technology provides what our customers need and that Tzero products will play a leading role in enabling the next generation of wireless connectivity," said Gabi Hilevitz, CopperGate CEO.
Together, Tzero and CopperGate promise to help OEMs build equipment that delivers broadband media over hybrid coax/phoneline backbones and UWB directly to multimedia appliances in the home. The combined solution will be demonstrated June 5-7 at GLOBALCOMM 2006, McCormick Place, Chicago, in CopperGate’s booth #69052.
