August 7, 2006 HomePNA Expands Membership with Two Semiconductor Companies Joining the Alliance

Momentum grows as HomePNA adds more semiconductor solution providers to its roster of members

SAN RAMON, Calif  - The HomePNA Alliance today announced two semiconductor companies joined the alliance, increasing the number of semiconductor vendors to four. The new members are STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), the worldwide leader in silicon solutions for set-top boxes, and Kawasaki Microelectronics, a wholly owned subsidiary of JFE Holdings, and a leader in advanced application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) technology. These industry leaders' products are integrated into broadband modems, routers and IP set-top boxes to facilitate the delivery of new IP-enabled entertainment services to customers.

"We see HomePNA technology continuing to gain strong momentum with service providers as a preferred means of distributing IPTV in customers' homes," said Christos Lagomichos, vice president and general manager of STMicroelectronics' Home Entertainment Group. "Joining the HomePNA Alliance enables us to develop and better support compelling solutions for this rapidly growing market.”

“We are pleased to be members of HomePNA," said Hisaya Keida, chief technology officer, Kawasaki Microelectronics, Inc. "We look forward to working closely with its

members on new specifications and products integrating the technology.”

HomePNA 3.0 technology, standardized by the ITU in may 2005, is a leading technology option for in-home distribution of new triple-play services such as IPTV. Its unique blend of high speed, robust performance, low cost, guaranteed QoS, and the ability to operate simultaneously over both phonelines and coax cables make it uniquely suited to the needs of service providers for deploying new services.

"We welcome two additional semiconductor manufacturers to the alliance," said Rich Nesin, president of HomePNA. "This is indicative of the momentum that HomePNA

Continues to build as major service providers roll out IPTV services that rely on HomePNA technology.”
